Florida Parrot Rescue is a  not-for-profit avian rescue dedicated to the rescue, rehabilitation and placement of companion parrots.  We understand that all parrot owners love their birds, and that finding a new home for their birds is used as a last option.  Florida Parrot Rescue remains non-judgmental and supportive in your time of need.  If you need to re-home your bird, Florida Parrot Rescue can help by offering your bird a safe place to stay and get veterinary care until the right home can be found!

For more information about our rescue, please click on our “ABOUT US” below.

Please be aware that adopting a bird is a lifelong responsibility, as many birds out-live their owners.  We take special care in matching up our adoptable birds with the right owners to build lasting relationships and forever homes.   Before contacting us about adopting a bird, please read our “HOW TO ADOPT” guide on the “Services” link for more information on adopting one of our birds and for our adoption application.

Florida Parrot Rescue is licensed with the state of Florida.  We have filed for and

currently awaiting our tax exempt status! Formerly known as “Tampa Bay Parrot Rescue”,

due to growth we have changed our name.

HISTORY

Florida Parrot Rescue was established by Jennifer & Chris who are team members of a local animal hospital,  After getting repeated requests from unhappy bird owners wanting to surrender their birds they decided to see what they could do to help.  Realizing there are few avian rescues out there prepared to handle the intake and veterinary care of exotic birds, they formed the Florida Parrot Rescue.  This organization was established to pair the right birds with their forever families.

WHO WE ARE

Florida Parrot Rescue is a  not-for-profit avian rescue dedicated to the rescue, rehabilitation and placement of companion parrots.  We understand that all parrot owners love their birds, and that finding a new home for their birds is used as a last option.  Florida Parrot Rescue remains non-judgmental and supportive in your time of need.  If you need to re-home your bird, Florida Parrot Rescue can help by offering your bird a safe place to stay and get veterinary care until the right home can be found!

Florida Parrot Rescue is run & supported by the help of our wonderful volunteers.  We are 100% not-for-profit, & have no paid employees.  Everyone who works for the Florida Parrot Rescue does so without any financial compensation, donating their time & efforts to our goals.  Because we run & depend on our volunteers, we ask you to be patient & understanding when inquiring about adopting a bird or volunteering to help.  Most of us work full time jobs in addition to supporting the rescue, & we appreciate your patience.

OUR MISSION

Florida Parrot Rescue is dedicated to the rescue and rehabilitation of companion parrots.  We strive to educate parrot owners on proper handling and care of parrots.  Should someone be unable to keep their bird(s) for ANY reason, we want them to know there is a place to turn, and that they are not alone.  It is our goal to provide a safe haven for birds that cannot stay with their owners or birds in need,  and then to find those birds permanent forever homes with loving and responsible families.

We love to hear from those who have adopted from us!

Hello,

I just wanted to drop a line and let you know that the kittens we adopted last June are doing great! We are absolutely in love with CoCo and Yoda. We brought them to your vet the first few times, but after a few long trips, decided to transfer them to a vet closer to home. CoCo (the white kitty) is known as my husband’s mistress because she is constantly by his side and craving his attention. Yoda likes to take naps under the covers and sleeps at my daughter’s feet every night. Both cats are as playful and healthy as they can be. They remain best friends and offer each other constant entertainment (which keeps them out of trouble!).

Keep up the great work and thank you so much for our beautiful babies!!
